Introduction


Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Pankajray Patel, In Charge Vice Chancellor of GTU, University has organized more than 450 workshops/seminars/FDP sessions so far and trained more than 8000 students and faculty members for the Basic to advance level of IPR/Patent/Deisgn/Trademark topics. GTU has introduced many novel IPR initiatives for creating large scle IP awareness and for its proper protection via suitable means of IP instruments.

Due to all these efforts more than 350 patents have been filed by GTU students and faculty member.

Under GTU SSIP Scheme GTU IPR Cell has supported 68 complete patent applications filing and 40 design and trademark filing of students/innovators/start-ups till January 2020.

Further, to increase the skilled human resource that are not only technically sound but also having in-depth knowledge of IPR and patents, GTU has launched “Post Graduate Diploma in IPR” course from September 2014. So far four batch of the PGDIPR Course has been successful completed, and more than 140 students has been benefited through this course.


Overview of Course


  1. Increase skilled man power in the field of IPR and Patents.
  2. Students/ faculty can take up this program along with their parallel study/ work as a Skill development program.
  3. There is big demand of technocrats, who possess knowledge of IPR and Patents in research based Pharmaceutical and Engineering industry, so this program will increase employability of our students.
  4. After thorough training of this course, students can start their own consultancy firm in the field of IPR and Patents. So students can become Entrepreneur after going through this program.
  5. This will bridge the gap between Indian and Chinese figure of patents filing per year.

Teaching Methods

TEACHING METHODS
1.Reading Materials - Print form:
The students will be provided printed modules of materials prepared by GTU. The Modules are prepared by subject experts and will cover the detailed syllabi, suggested readings of books and titles.
   
2.Web support:
The modules will also be available on the website. The web site will have periodic updates and will have guest columns from the subject experts. The website will be on a password basis free of cost to the enrolled candidates. The learners can interact with subject guides through e-mail.
   
3.Contact Classes:
GTU will organize 2 days contact classes once in a month preferably on Saturday & Sunday. IPR Faculty from GTU as well as experts of IPR from other institutes and corporate will conduct the classes.

There will be exam at the end of 6 months of the course.
One paper theory……..100 marks (40 marks MCQ)
One practical paper…...100 marks

At the end of 12 months, there will be exam once again.
One paper theory……..100 marks (40 marks MCQ)
One practical paper…...100 marks


NOTE :
1).Minimum passing mark for any subject is 40% and in total minimum 50% including practical component.
2).It is necessary to attend minimum 75% contact classes during each semester, without which candidate will not be allowed to appear in the exam.
3).If due to any of the reason, candidate could not appear in end semester exam, then he/she can appear in remedial exam conducted during next semester.

  1. Student currently pursing OR completed Master/PhD in Pharmacy/Engineering/Management/Science OR
  2. Faculty member from Pharmacy/Engineering/ Management colleges OR
  3. Any working professional possessing Basic science degree / Technical degree.
